Do you think this would help our economy and the wars overseas (Iran/Iraq/Afghanistan)?

What if we took all the people in jail (3 time felons, lifers, etc.) and on the streets (ers), gave them some military training, then sent them overseas to fight the wars? I think it would help in the prisons (not so overcrowded, less money spent on taking care of the inmates, and less guards), not to mention less crime on our streets in this glorious country of the United States. Give them a 2 year tour and if they made it back home, pardon them (after debriefing them of course-and whatever else help they needed.) What are your opinions on this? Why or why not do you think it would or would not work?
