Is "stupid" and allowed and taught word by elementary teachers?

My girl is at elementary school, she brought home an enlisted vocabulary (adjectives) including "stupid" there. Her teacher gave her. I thought it would be better another word (synonym) instead of this. But maybe it is allowed.
