A friend told every one she had me arrested for grand larcency. i was never arrested is this slander ?

just before christmas a a so called friend told everyone that i stole a blank check and cashed it... a few days ago a ran into some people and found out that she had been telling people that she told everyone that she had me arrested for this, would this be considered slander? I was never arrested. The police never contacted me, instead she went to others and cried to them and said she now had no money to buy presents to for christmas and scammed everyone else. Now people ate looking at me as some type of criminal and no crime was ever comitted by me. But my name has now by smeared with all this drama.
