Help with my writing. Please critique/rate/suggest...?

A famed military strategist once said, "He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious." His words state the importance of realizing whether the conditions needed for military success do, or do not, exist. With his decision to both continue and escalate the War in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama has failed to recognize the absence of said conditions and will unwittingly engage in a war which is not vital to our country's national security, harmful to our economy and collective morale, and most importantly - not winnable.
