Should we legalize abortion? :|?
Well, women have been having abortions (or at least trying to) since women have been having . Abortions being illegal leads to more women either hurting themselves, or going to cheap facilities that are unsanitary and getting infections, becoming infertile due to bad practice, or even dying. Also, more unwanted children could mean more neglected or abandoned (as in dumpsters) babies, and homes where children grow up abused. It also increases the number of children who are born with defects because their mother's weren't responsible enough to stop drinking or doing drugs - or even because they tried to terminate the pregnancy on their own with achohol or chemicals. What about cases of , or where the child will suffer a great deal and die young? What about cases where giving birth might kill the mother? Is the potential babies life worth the existing life of the mother? Depending on where you live, you may want to point out that if a pregnant woman is say, hit by a car, and the fetus dies, the driver is not held liable for manslaughter for that. Pregnancy comes with risks, its a permanent change to your body physically and mentally (as it changes your hormone production, for some women forever) and could even kill the mother in some situations. If the woman has to undergo a C section she is left scarred for life - and all on the chance that the child survives and becomes a valuable member of society. Sure, they aren't all great arguments, but it should do you for a school debate.
